Are you considering purchasing a Clean Router, but you don’t know where to start? Do you have questions about how Clean Router works? Are you unsure whether Clean Router is compatible with your current internet service provider? Do you want more information what a Clean Router subscription buys? Check out the answers to these frequently asked questions and more below!

Q: So how does Clean Router’s filtering work?

A: The router works on text-based algorithms to detect inappropriate pages. Each page and its URL are dynamically registered against known words and phrases that can trigger the blocking mechanism. There are actually several layers of filtering going on as each page is loaded. On top of that, each page is logged for a complete history. Images and videos are screened in the same way, with their URLs and title checked against our list of keywords and phrases. In addition to the automatic filtering components, there are also user-defined filters as well. Users have access to a white, grey, and black list. You can even edit a special keyword list, that defines what the filter screens for!

Q: What does a Clean Router subscription buy? If my Clean Router is free, why do I need to enter a credit card at checkout?

A: When you purchase a Clean Router, you begin a monthly subscription to the Clean Router filtering service. You will automatically receive 1 month free of the monthly subscription, and under our current promotion, our standard model Clean Router is free as well! Your subscription includes frequent updates to your Clean Router’s filtering software so it is always on top of blocking new threats, along with free technical support via phone, email and live chat, regular updates to black, white and grey lists, Emailed Reports, Time Restrictions, new features, ongoing performance improvements, and much much more. After your first free month, your subscription is only $19.99 a month. That is less than $1/day to keep you family safe online! We’re working day and night behind the scenes to help keep pace with the ever-changing landscape of the internet and with evolving threats that are continually working to target children with inappropriate content.

Q: Will Clean Router Prevent Me Accessing My Favorite Websites?

A: No! Clean Router uses our proprietary IntelliFilter™ intelligent filtering system. This advanced filtration system prevents Clean Router from blocking benign websites. For situations where a website is incorrectly blocked, an easy-to-use white list, or “safe list,” is available.

Q: Will Clean Router slow down my internet?

A: No! When configured correctly, Clean Router has a minimal impact on network performance. Although we do not make this claim, some customers have reported faster internet speeds after installing Clean Router, potentially because it is blocking ads at the gateway, preventing them from loading onto every page as you browse online.

Q: Will Clean Router work with other filtering solutions?

A: While we cannot guarantee compatibility with other filtering solutions, Clean Router has been known to work with some other systems such as NetNanny. It is not likely to work with K9 and OpenDNS.

Q: Is Clean Router wireless?

A: Absolutely! Clean Router is a wireless router, and will handle all of your wireless connections.

Q: Will Clean Router work with any device?

A: Clean Router will work with nearly all internet-capable devices! That includes Windows and Mac laptops and desktops, tablets (iPad, Android), smart phones (iPhone, Android, Windows), Smart TVs, iPods and gaming systems such as Xbox and PlayStation.
