The Good Men Project recently published an article on the evolution of pornography from the pre-Internet age into the digital age. As the Internet has become ubiquitous, pornography has become as accessible as reaching into your pocket.
The article also included some eye-popping statistics about religious people and pornography. While most religious people consider pornography incompatible with their values, many find themselves succumbing to the pervasiveness of sexually explicit material.
- 50% of religious men and 20% of religious women say they are addicted to pornography.
- 54% of men polled marked that they visited pornographic sites at least “frequently.”
- Men are 543% more likely than women to look at pornography
- People who have committed adultery are more likely to view pornography
- Regular church attendees are 26% less likely to look at pornography, but people who identify as “fundamentalist” are 91% more likely to view porn.
