FTND Offers Advice and Help for Ditching Porn

Do you or someone you love have a hard time letting go of pornography? It’s not easy. Our brains are programmed to remember and bond to sexual imagery for a reason, and pornography takes advantage of those natural attractions.

In addition to their public awareness campaign, Fight the New Drug has started a pornography recovery program called Fortify. Free to anyone under 18 years old, Fortify includes 52 video based lessons, a calendar tracker, and in depth inventories to aid addicts in fighting the battle against pornography.

To get a taste of the Fortify program, these are some suggestions offered by a post titled “3 Ways to Start Healing Your Porn-Sick Brain” originally published on the Fortify blog. The post compares healing from pornography like recovering from a physical injury– it is possible with the right help and self care.

Grab some crutches”

When you break your leg, the post reminds us, you can’t just keep walking on it without support and expect to make progress. Create a proper network of family, friends, and a therapist.

“Take your medicine”

Medicine may not taste good, but you won’t get better without it. Similarly, ditching pornography requires a level of self care. Eat well, sleep well, exercise regularly, and care for your emotional health as well. Identify triggers that pull you towards pornography, and adapt healthy coping mechanisms for emotional stress.

“Strengthen your immune system”

This is a tip we at Clean Router especially advise. Just like minimizing contact with germy surfaces decreases your chances of getting sick, keeping as far away from pornography as possible will lessen your chances of accidentally relapsing. Use a good internet filter to block the filth from your home.
