Pornography addicts have therapists and support groups, but there are fewer resources for the addict’s spouse.

Spouses of addicts are stretched thin as they struggle through marital separation, divorce, grief, and supporting young children. Recent research indicates that betrayed spouses even experience a form of PTSD.

A group of women started the Hope and Healing blog and forum for spouses of pornography addicts. They chronicled their own journeys as  wives of addicts and offered advice and comfort for others in similar situations. KSL reported that, as of last month, 700 women have signed up for the forum.

While the forum is private and requires users to register and request access, the blog is open to the public. The posts utilize scientific research, spiritual and religious principles, and personal anecdotes. The topics range from “Pornography Addiction 101: The Basics,” to “Sexual Boundaries in Addiction Recovery.” While the focus is pornography addiction, the content may be applicable to a variety of sexual and no sexual addictions.

Some posts even branch out beyond porn addiction within marriage; “Before You Marry My Good-Hearted Son” addresses the issue of pornography in dating and engagement.
