Elon Musk Says The Twitter For You Page Will Now Only Recommend Verified Accounts

Twitter For You Page Recommendations:

Twitter For You Page – According to a tweet by Elon Musk on Monday evening, Twitter users will require a “verified account” to be recommended on the platform’s For You page starting April 15th. This means that individuals will have to be a company, government entity, or Twitter Blue subscriber to appear in the feeds of people who don’t follow them. Musk says this move is to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. Additionally, verified users are going to be the only accounts that can vote in polls for the same reason.

Musk’s Unfulfilled Promises:

It is worth noting that Musk’s tweets have not always turned into enforced policy or features. For instance, he promised in February that the company would start sharing ad revenue with Blue subscribers, which is still MIA almost two months later. He also pledged to open-source the company’s algorithm by March 5th, which he missed, but now he says it will happen on March 31st, without acknowledging the previous missed deadline. Musk has made similar promises in the past, such as stating that Twitter would only allow Blue Subscribers to vote in policy polls.

Twitter’s new requirement for verified accounts to be recommended on the platform’s For You page is expected to address advanced AI bot swarms. However, it remains to be seen if this move will be implemented as announced by Musk. Nevertheless, his tweet has caused a stir on the social media platform, with some users wondering about the potential implications for non-verified accounts.
